NaijaGrove Music Spotlight: Young Jonn continues to explore his melodic side with “By 4,” one of the tracks on his new Dear London EP. The song adds another layer to the artist’s growing catalogue while keeping the catchy, contemporary sound that has become central to his transition from hit-making producer to recording artist.
Produced by Jiggy and Teemode, “By 4” combines Young Jonn’s smooth vocal delivery with a polished Afrosounds production. The record gives him room to lean into melody while maintaining the rhythmic energy that makes his music easy to connect with.
The song sits as the second track on Dear London, following “Destiny” and leading into “Shege.” The seven-track project also includes “Elumelu,” “Glass in the Air,” “Hold Somebody” and “Ws in the Chat.”
“By 4” also reflects Young Jonn’s evolution. After establishing himself as a major producer behind numerous Nigerian hits, he successfully moved into the spotlight as an artist, building a catalogue that now includes albums such as Jiggy Forever and Blue Disco.
For listeners exploring Dear London, “By 4” offers another example of Young Jonn balancing his producer instincts with the personality of a frontman. It is a smooth addition to the project and another glimpse into the sound he continues to develop as an artist.
