NaijaGrove Music Spotlight: Lovn teams up with Ayanfe on “OVER THE NIGHT,” a smooth Afrobeats collaboration that brings together expressive vocals, soft melodies and an easy-going groove. The song appears on Lovn’s debut SOUNDBENDER project.
“OVER THE NIGHT” gives both artists room to showcase their vocal styles. Lovn leads the record with his melodic delivery, while Ayanfe adds another layer to the song, creating a natural balance between their voices and the production.
The track is the third song on SOUNDBENDER, following “BABY” and “SORRY I’M BUSY.” The nine-track project also features collaborations with Amaeya, L.A.X and Terry Apala, while exploring themes around relationships, independence, ambition and personal growth.
For Lovn, “OVER THE NIGHT” adds another dimension to the musical identity behind his Soundbender name. His sound draws from contemporary Afrobeats and Afrofusion while retaining influences from Nigerian musical traditions such as Fuji and Apala.
The collaboration with Ayanfe gives the record an accessible and melodic character, making it a natural fit for listeners who enjoy relaxed contemporary Nigerian music. It is another example of Lovn experimenting with different sounds while keeping his vocals at the centre.
