Nigerian artist DRE takes inspiration from his current reality on his new single, “Nine2Five.”
The record comes from a chapter of his life he never really imagined for himself. While working a 9-to-5 and still pursuing his bigger goals, DRE began to see how many people were also trying to balance their everyday responsibilities with the future they were working towards.
That shared experience became the foundation for “Nine2Five.”
Rather than treating the 9-to-5 life as something negative, DRE uses the song to speak about ambition, patience and staying focused even when your present situation looks different from what you imagined.
At the heart of the record is a simple message: “Grind today, ball tomorrow.”
With confident delivery and lyrics centred around money, work and the determination to keep moving, “Nine2Five” gives listeners something they can relate to without losing the energy of a record they can enjoy.
Produced by Danexx, with mixing and mastering by Yung T beatz, “Nine2Five” is a snapshot of where DRE is today and the bigger destination he continues to work towards.
For anyone balancing responsibilities while still chasing a dream, “Nine2Five” is a record worth tapping into.
