BNXN – Shamaya ft. FOLA

NaijaGrove Music Spotlight

BNXN teams up with FOLA for “Shamaya,” a smooth collaboration that brings together two distinctive voices from Nigeria’s contemporary Afrobeats scene.

The song finds BNXN and FOLA leaning into a melodic, confident sound, with the two artists complementing each other rather than competing for attention. BNXN’s familiar vocal style gives the record its foundation, while FOLA adds another layer to the performance and helps give the collaboration its own character.

“Shamaya” is featured as the fifth track on BNXN’s six-track Still In Charge EP, sitting between “Deliberate Work” and “If You Like.” The project also includes BNXN’s previously released collaboration with Asake, “Eja Meja.”

The collaboration also continues the musical relationship between BNXN and FOLA. The pair previously appeared together on “Very Soon,” which was included on BNXN’s CAPTAIN project.

On “Shamaya,” the chemistry between the two artists is central to the record. The production leaves enough room for their vocals to carry the song, while the catchy hook gives it an easy-to-follow quality. It is the kind of collaboration that fits naturally into an Afrobeats playlist without feeling overloaded.

For listeners following BNXN’s latest musical direction, “Shamaya” provides another look at the sound surrounding his current project. For FOLA, the collaboration adds another high-profile appearance as his growing presence in Nigeria’s music space continues to develop.

“Shamaya” is now part of Still In Charge, giving fans another BNXN and FOLA collaboration to add to their playlists.
